Alexandra Viana da Costa

Degree in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (1998). JNICT fellowship and fixed-term Technician position at Parasitology Laboratory of INSA-Porto (1990- 1994). PhD in Life and Health Sciences (Immunology-Parasitology) at USTL-Lille (1998) (Marie  Curie fellowship at Pasteur Institute in Lille). Postdoctoral position at the Institute of Biology in Lille (1998-2002). Assistant Professor, in 2002 joined the ISCSN-CESPU institution until present (IUCS-CESPU). Lectures in immunology, parasitology, mycology, virology and molecular therapy. Responsible for the Advanced Course in Integrative Immunology in the PhD Program/CBAS Health Sciences at IUCS-CESPU (2015-2022). Contribute to 5 Postgraduate Clinical Analysis Programs in the fields of clinical parasitology and mycology (2014-2025). Member of the Scientific  Council (2020- until present). Member of course committee and coordinating committee of the Integrated Master's Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences (2018- until present). Since 2002, has been part of different research units at IUCS-CESPU and now his affiliated at Toxicologic  Pathology Research Laboratory- 1H-TOXRUN. Since 2021, has been strongly collaborating with colleagues from the Periodontology Unit (UNIPRO, IUCS-CESPU). Peer-reviewed publications cover both immunology and parasitology (7 in each field). Over the past 8 years, has been supervised 8 master’s students (Medical Dentistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Forensic Sciences, Molecular Therapy) and 6 final reports of the BSc (Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences). Participated in more than 10 research projects, including 5 as Principal Investigator (PI).
