Eduarda M. P. Silva has been, since September 2020, an Assistant Professor at IUCS-CESPU. She carries out educational activities related to her academic position, being responsible for the organic chemistry lectures in 3 BSc and 1 MSc degrees and participating in an advanced course teaching in the PhD Program of Toxicology. Eduarda carried out her PhD studies under the guidance of Prof. Laurence Harwood at University of Reading (UK) working in the total synthesis of a natural marine product. She finished her PhD degree in 2009 and then joined the group of Prof. Artur M. S. Silva as a postdoc researcher at UA to develop research concerning catalysis, stereochemistry and the formation of carbon-carbon bonds. In 2015, Eduarda took a sabbatical period from research and was involved in the implementation of the Faculty of Exact Sciences at the National University of East Timor (UNTL) through a collaboration agreement between University of Aveiro and UNTL. Later in 2016, she became an Assistant Researcher at LAQV-FFUP, working towards the development and validation of analytical methods for application to biological and environmental samples. Her research interests are now concerned with the synthesis and development of chemosensors for biomedical applications, development of GC-MS and/or LC-MS analytical methods for the phytochemical characterization, structural elucidation of bioactive compounds in plants. At 1H-TOXRUN she leads a project to develop chemosensors for the detection of D-amino acids (FACE-RecAD_GI2-CESPU-2025) financially supported by CESPU and she is the primary member responsible at 1H-TOXRUN-IUCS-CESPU for the NORTE2030-FEDER-00717300 project (Fungal sialidase 1: a novel therapeutic target for Sporothrix brasiliensis infections (Fast Sia) – 174 kEuro) funded by the Portuguese Foundation of Science and Technology. She is now responsible for the supervision of 1 PhD student in the Pharmaceutical Sciences PhD program at FFUP and the co-supervision of 2 PhD students, 1 in the Biomedical Sciences PhD program at IUCS-CESPU and 1 at the Centre for Doctoral Training in Physical Sciences of Life at King’s College. She is also the supervisor/co-supervisor of 3 MSc Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1 MSc student and 1 BSc student in Forensic Sciences.
